As a tribute to Viola Desmond, I have written a song with Playwright/Poet David Woods for African Heritage Month titled "Rise Above The Ashes.  She is sometimes referred to as the "Rosa Parks of Canada" although Viola's actions preceded  Rosa's by almost 10 years.  She was an entrepreneur, educator, and someone who stood for social justice.  Feel free to listen, and share in support of her courage, and for African Heritage Month.
